Is Bitcoin the same as crypto?

No. Crypto is a broad label for digital assets and related systems. Bitcoin is a particular system within that category, with its own record and rules.

What does that mean for you?

Other assets may use different ways to add blocks, run programs or manage supply. Calling them crypto does not make them interchangeable with BTC.

Some names resemble Bitcoin because of a chain split or a project's naming choice. Neither the broad category nor a familiar name establishes that a payment uses the Bitcoin network.

Can you picture an example?

Imagine a screen offers bitcoin and a stablecoin. Both may appear under a crypto heading. That does not mean you can send either asset to the same destination using the same network.

What should you remember?

Read the full asset name and the network, not only the category heading. Understanding the differences is enough for now; you do not need to choose an asset or open an account to learn them.
