Is there a minimum bitcoin purchase?

You do not have to buy a whole bitcoin. A service can set its own minimum purchase or withdrawal, and those limits are separate from Bitcoin's small units.

What does that mean for you?

An operator may allow a fractional purchase while applying a different minimum to taking it out of the account. A balance on the screen does not by itself promise an immediate withdrawal.

Costs also matter. A stated minimum tells you whether an action is allowed by the service; it does not tell you whether the fees are small beside that amount.

Can you picture an example?

Imagine an account accepts a small purchase but will not yet let you withdraw that amount. The restriction can come from the account's terms, rather than a rule saying bitcoin cannot be divided.

What should you remember?

Read the purchase limit, withdrawal limit and total cost separately. This page gives no suggested amount and recommends no service. You can learn the unit system without making a purchase.
