Account balance: A record inside a service. Custody: Who controls spending keys. Withdrawal: Moving assets out of the account.

What is the idea?

A service can hold spending keys and display a balance in your account. You rely on the operator to process a withdrawal. An exchange swaps assets, while custody describes who controls the spending keys; these are different jobs.

Read costs, withdrawal limits and what happens if an operator fails. A registration entry does not guarantee safety. In Canada, official consumer guidance points to checks with the relevant securities regulator. Rules depend on the activity and where you live.

The Bitcoin network can check payment approvals without checking a service's promises. It cannot make an operator honour its account terms. A service failure and a failure of the whole payment network are different events.

Unexpected requests for recovery words, private keys or urgent payments deserve a pause. A trusted-looking screen does not verify the person behind it. Keep secrets private and check claims using a contact route you already trust.

Can you picture an example?

Imagine your account shows a balance but withdrawals are paused. The display does not mean you can directly sign a payment with those keys. You need to understand the operator's role and its account process.
